Is it just me, or is there always a random “national” day added to the list once a year? I mean, I didn’t know “National boyfriend/girlfriend day” was a thing until I had an Instagram account. It’s strange how these days help us to really enjoy the things that surround us every day. They also give you a reason to indulge in some of the things you love, like cookies, lipstick and, as the title of this post suggests, thrifting! If you follow me on social media or have read my previous blog, you will know that I am huge on thrifting. There is just something very beautiful about finding something someone donated and making it your own. Since I’ve moved to Columbus, I have been on the hunt for some fun thrift stores to shop. So far, the experiences have been positive, as I always find a way to spend a lot by thrift store standards ($40 in one store!)
As any curvy girl knows, finding clothes that not only adhere to our needs for affordable clothes, but also give us a chance to show our individual style. I was excited to find some stores that fit this need. The top I’m wearing, for instance, was $0.99 and fit me perfectly! I was expecting a side boob or for my cup to runneth over, but luckily, I didn’t have any problems! So if you come to Columbus to visit or you’re a currently living here, here are some of my favorite spots:
I had no clue this thrift store even existed when I first moved here but now it has easily been one of my favorites. Not only are the prices great, the stores have the vintage feel I prefer to have at thrift stores. Volunteers of America also have many plus-size options but, unfortunately, you will have to do some digging, so it may be fun to make a day of it!
I know everyone thinks their city’s Goodwill is the best, but let me be specific. There is one Goodwill in East Columbus that is AMAZING! This is where I spent $40 and died a little inside. I found some amazing vintage 90s gear, as well as decor for my living room. The store has a great selection of artwork and furniture at amazing prices.
I’m not sure if this is considered a “thrift store” or just a great place to save money, but this store is EVERYTHING! Its plus-size selections are always great, as they have brands like Lane Bryant and Torrid! The shorts in this post, for example, were originally $30 from Lane Bryant but I snagged them for $8. Their shoe selection is also something to check out, with brands like Express being less than $10!
What are some of your favorite thrift stores? Let’s talk about it!
